Team Army ruled the 2022 edition of the Armed Forces of the Philippines-Philippine National Police-Philippine Coast Guard (AFP-PNP-PCG) Olympics, continuing its pre-pandemic championship streak from 2018 to 2019.
Team Army dominated the overall ranking after bagging nine gold medals from various indoor and outdoor sports, including tug-of-war men’s and women’s categories, cycling, women’s volleyball, women’s basketball, athletics, chess, football, and golf. Army athletes also bagged five silver medals and four bronze medals. Team Air Force and Team Navy placed first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.
Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner lauded the Army participants for showcasing the Army’s brand of excellence in the annual AFP-PNP-PCG goodwill games.
The Covid-19 pandemic prompted the cancellation of the annual AFP-PNP-PCG Olympics for two consecutive years from 2020 to 2021. The goodwill games aimed to foster sportsmanship and camaraderie between soldiers and law enforcers.
