Army hosts fellowship dinner for Marawi Liberation Anniversary

The Philippine Army capped the events during the 5th Marawi Liberation Anniversary through a fellowship dinner, together with the Marawi liberators and commanders on October 26, 2022, at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Andres Bonifacio, Metro Manila.

The fellowship dinner recognized the commanders of units who participated in the Marawi campaign, which set Marawi free from the ISIS-inspired Maute terrorist group in 2017. Retired Gen. Eduardo M. Año, former Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP), graced the event as a Guest of Honor and Speaker. Gen. Año highlighted the importance of the gathering to reminisce the valor and patriotism of the Marawi fallen heroes.

Likewise, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., welcomed the notable guests and raised a toast for Marawi City’s liberation and the contribution of the government forces during the Battle of Marawi. “For our solemn and momentous gathering for this evening, we also honor and pay tribute to the valiant service of our fallen and unsung warriors and heroes from all the uniformed services. Their indomitable spirit and unconquerable resolve to defeat the adversaries of the state have ultimately paved the way for the successful liberation of Marawi City,” emphasized Lt. Gen. Brawner.
