The Philippine Army joined the Filipino nation in celebrating the 159th birth anniversary of Gat Andres Bonifacio through wreath-laying ceremonies across the country on November 30, 2022.
Army Vice Commander Maj. Gen. Adonis R. Bajao, who represented Army Chief Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., led the wreath-laying ceremony at the Andres Bonifacio Monument, Headquarters Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio. The Army Chief meanwhile joined President and Commander-in-Chief Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr., and AFP Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Bartolome Vicente O. Bacarro in the flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremonies at "Monumento" in Caloocan City to honor the life and heroism of Gat Bonifacio anchored on the theme "Kabayanihan at Pagtindig sa Makabagong Panahon."
Ms. Mary Rose N. Distrito, a descendant of Gat Andres Bonifacio, graced the Fort Bonifacio wreath-laying ceremony. Meanwhile, other Philippine Army Major Units such as the Cagayan de Oro City-based 4th Infantry "Diamond" Division also joined wreath-laying ceremonies at their respective areas of responsibility.
”To the men and women of the Philippine Army, let us give honor to the life and heroism of Gat Andres Bonifacio through the unwavering dedication and unfaltering determination as we carry on with our service to God, country, and the Filipino people,” Maj. Gen. Bajao said in his speech on behalf of Lt. Gen. Brawner.
”Muli, isang masigasig na pagpupugay para kay Gat Andres Bonifacio at sa lahat ng Pilipinong nag-alay ng kanilang buhay upang mapanatili ang kasarinlan ng ating bansa,” Maj. Gen. Bajao remarked.
