Army welcomes 36th Vice Commander

The Philippine Army installed Brig. Gen. Steve D. Crespillo as its new Vice Commander in a turnover ceremony presided by Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on January 20, 2023.
 
Brig. Gen. Crespillo succeeded Maj. Gen. Adonis R. Bajao who assumed as the commander of the Bicol Region-based 9th Infantry Division earlier this month.
 
Brig. Gen. Crespillo served as commander of the 501st Infantry Brigade, 5th Infantry Brigade prior to his assumption as Army Vice Commander. He belongs to the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990 and holds a Master In Development Management degree from the Asian Institute of Management and a Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Management from the College of Saint Benilde.
 
He served as Chief of the Unified Command Staff of the AFP’s Western Mindanao Command; Chief of Staff and Assistant Division Commander for Reservist and Retiree Affairs of the 6th Infantry Division (6ID); and acting commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade, 6ID.
 
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Bajao belongs to PMA “Makatao” Class of 1989 and holds a Doctor of Public Administration degree from the University of the Philippines and a Master in Public Management Major in Development Security from the Development Academy of the Philippines.
 
Lt. Gen. Brawner, in his keynote remarks, lauded Maj. Gen. Bajao for his short yet productive stint as the 35th Army Vice Commander. He likewise called on Brig. Gen. Crespillo to fulfill his crucial role as chairman of various Philippine Army boards and committees wherein he will exercise oversight functions on key policies, plans and programs of the organization.
