A total of 36 newly promoted Philippine Army generals took their oath before President and Commander-in-Chief Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., at the Malacañan Palace in the City of Manila on February 6, 2023.
The President administered the oath of office to newly promoted Philippine Army generals such as Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Potenciano C. Camba, 1st Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, and 5th Infantry Division Commander Maj. Gen. Audrey L. Pasia.
The newly promoted generals are led by Philippine Military Academy Superintendent Lt. Gen. Rowen S. Tolentino, Southern Luzon Command Commander Lt. Gen. Efren P. Baluyot, Western Mindanao Command Commander Lt. Gen Roy M. Galido, and Visayas Command Commander Lt. Gen. Benedict M. Arevalo. The newly minted three-star generals used to hold key leadership posts within the Philippine Army.
36 out of the 77 newly promoted senior officers belong to the Philippine Army. Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., accompanied AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Andres C. Centino during the oath-taking ceremony at the Malacañan Palace.
The Commander-in-Chief, in his keynote address, emphasized the AFP's vital role in protecting the country's interests amid the complex security landscape. "The AFP has never failed in that mission, and I only hope to continue to inspire to keep up the good work and keep the Philippines safe," President Marcos remarked.
