Philippine Army holds 10th Strategic Forum

The Philippine Army through the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans (OG5), held its 10th Strategic Forum which organized key Army officers to pursue professional and organizational development at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on July 20, 2023.

The 10th Philippine Army Strategic Forum, anchored on the theme “Forging Strategic Minds: Unpacking Uncertainties of the Operating Environment,” aims to equip the participants with a basic appreciation of key geostrategic issues affecting the region, as well as military responses to the increasingly complicated cognitive domain.

Resource persons from the Department of National Defense, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and the Academe shared perspectives on the operational environment's complexities and the cognitive domain's intricacies. Department of National Defense Director for Strategic Agenda and Special Concerns Dr. Philip Fortuno expounded on the cognitive domain; Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans Brig. Gen. Rommel R. Cordova delivered a lecture on security implications arising from China-Taiwan tensions, and Pacific Forum Nonresident Vasey Fellow Dr. Aaron Jed Rabena addressed the dynamics of threats.

The forum was also streamed virtually and gathered 100 participants, enabling a wider audience to benefit from the valuable insights and discussions shared during the event.

Army Commanding General Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. commended the OG5 for its efforts to adopt and institutionalize appropriate development practices and be adept at fulfilling the organization’s core mission.
