The Philippine Army welcomed Col. Rhoderick L. Parallag as the new Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel, G1, in a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony, presided by Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Potenciano C. Camba on August 2, 2023, at Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
Col. Parallag served as the Executive Assistant of the Office of the Commanding General prior to his new designation. He held key staff and command positions such as Chief of Staff and Assistant Chief of Staff for Operations, G3, under the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne) [SFRA]; Commanding Officer of the 3rd Special Forces Battalion (3SFBn) under SFRA; and Chief of the Administration Branch under the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel (OG1). Col. Parallag is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) "Marilag" Class of 1995. He holds a Master's Degree in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) and a Master's Degree in National Security Administration from the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP).
Meanwhile, outgoing G1 Col. Ramon P. Flores took the helm of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Commandant of Cadets last July 26, 2023. He held diverse military positions such as the Assistant Chief of Unified Command Staff (ACUCS) for Intelligence of the Western Mindanao Command; Commanding Officers of the 32nd Infantry Battalion (32IB) under the 1st Infantry Division (1ID) as well as of the 63rd Infantry Battalion (63IB) of the 8th Infantry Division (8ID); and G3 of the First Scout Ranger Regiment (FSRR). He holds a Master's Degree in Management from the University of the Philippines Baguio (UPB) and a Master's Degree in Public Management from the DAP. He belongs to the PMA "Bantay-Laya" Class of 1994.
Maj. Gen. Camba extended his gratitude to both incoming and outgoing chiefs of the OG1. He emphasized the foundations laid by their predecessors for the best interest of the office. “Ipagpatuloy ang pagseserbisyo sa ating mga servant leaders and servants to the people. Continue serving with a smile and humility," Maj. Gen. Camba said.
