8ID celebrates its 35th founding anniversary

The Philippine Army’s 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers” Division (8ID) commemorated its 35th Founding Anniversary, presided by the 8ID Commander Maj. Gen. Camilo Z. Ligayo, on August 1, 2023, at Camp Vicente Lukban, Catbalogan City, Samar.

Anchored on the theme, "Ika-35 na Taong Patuloy na Kaakibat sa Paglilingkod sa Mapayapa at Maunlad na Silangang Bisayas,” the division encompasses its unwavering commitment to service in support of the peace initiatives of the government in attaining a peaceful and progressive Eastern Visayas.

During the anniversary program, the 8ID recognized the units who significantly contributed to the success of insurgency operations such as the 43rd Infantry Battalion, 20th Infantry Battalion, and 63rd Infantry Battalion. On the other hand, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held for the fallen soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for peace and development in Eastern Visayas.

Another part of the celebration was the inauguration and blessing of the newly constructed three-storey liaison office building which was part of the “Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad” (TIKAS) program under the “Build, Build, Build” during the administration of former President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

Moreover, Maj. Gen. Ligayo expressed his gratitude to the entire 8ID personnel, acknowledging their invaluable service to the country. He commended their exceptional fortitude and unwavering commitment to duty, especially in hurdling the challenges of anti-insurgency and natural disasters to achieve peace and progress in the region.
