Army Vice Commander is the new WestMinCom Chief

Vice Commander, Philippine Army Maj. Gen. Steve D. Crespillo was installed as the new Commander of the Western Mindanao Command (WestMinCom), replacing the outgoing WestMincom Commander and concurrent Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido in a Change of Command Ceremony, presided by the Chief of Staff Armed Forces of the Philippines Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. at the Headquarters WestMinCom, Camp Navarro, Zamboanga City on September 05, 2023.
 
Before his designation, Maj. Gen. Steve D. Crespillo served as the Vice Commander of the Headquarters Philippine Army and Chief of the Office of the Army Ethical Standards and Public Accountability. He also held various positions as Commander of the 501st Infantry Brigade, 5th Infantry Division in 2021; Chief of Staff of the 6th Infantry Division in 2017; Chief of Unified Command Staff of WestMinCom in 2016; and Commanding Officer of the 54th Infantry Battalion, 5th Infantry Division. Maj. Gen. Crespillo is a member of the Philippine Military Academy "Bigkis-Lahi" Class of 1990.
 
Meanwhile, the outgoing WestMinCom Commander, Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido, who was recently appointed as the 66th Army Commanding General, held various key positions, such as the Commander of the 6th Infantry Division in 2022, Army Inspector General in 2021 and Brigade Commander of the 601st Infantry Brigade, 6ID in 2020.
 
During his assumption speech, Maj. Gen. Steve D. Crespillo extended his gratitude and gave his assurance that he would do his best to accomplish his mission as the new WestMinCom Commander. "I urge everyone to focus on contributing our individual and group efforts to accomplish our campaign objectives. Let us work, serve the people of Western Mindanao for the greater glory of our country, for the Filipino people," Maj. Gen Crespillo said.
