Newly promoted Philippine Army generals take oath before PBBM

A total of 22 newly promoted Philippine Army generals took their oath before President and Commander-in-Chief Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., at the Malacañan Palace in the City of Manila on October 27, 2023.
 
The President administered the oath of office to newly promoted Philippine Army generals including the Armed Forces of the Philippines Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr., Internal Auditor AFP, Maj Gen. Noe Alberto Q. Peñafil and Commander of the AFP Special Operations Command Maj. Gen. Freddie T. Dela Cruz. The newly minted generals used to hold key leadership posts within the Philippine Army.
 
22 out of the 31 newly promoted senior officers belong to the Philippine Army. Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido accompanied AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo S. Brawner during the oath-taking ceremony at the Malacañan Palace.
 
The Commander-in-Chief, in his keynote address, extended his congratulations to the newly promoted generals and reminded the significance of their duties. “Coupled with this promotion are greater responsibilities and duties. These will strain and test the mettle of your character, integrity, loyalty, and professionalism. In a fulfillment of your sacred duty of protecting and defending our people and our nation, I along with the nation, expect all of you to perform your duty with strength of character, integrity and profession,” President Marcos remarked.
