Army installs Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations

The Philippine Army installed a new Assistant Chief of Staff for Civil-Military Operations (G7) in a Change of Chief of Office Ceremony on January 19, 2024 at Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.
 
During the said ceremony, Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Potenciano C. Camba led the turnover of leadership to the incoming chief Col. Eufracio G. Malig Jr. from outgoing chief Col. Victor M. Llapitan.
 
Prior to his new post as G7, Col. Malig served as the Deputy Brigade Commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (303Bde) of the 3rd Infantry “Spearhead” Division (3ID). He also held leadership positions such as the Assistant Chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Systems Engineering Office (AFPSEO), Assistant Chief of Staff for G7 and Commander of 47th Infantry Battalion (47IB), all under 3ID. Col. Malig belongs to the PMA "Bantay-Laya" Class of 1994. He holds two Master degrees – a Master of Business Administration from the Ateneo de Manila University and a Master in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines.
 
Meanwhile, Col. Llapitan will be the new Deputy Brigade Commander of the 303Bde, Col. Malig’s former position. Col. Llapitan held key positions throughout his career such as Group Commander of the 3rd Army Training Group, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC); Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans (G5), TRADOC; and Commander of 61st Infantry Battalion (61IB) under 3ID. He belongs to the PMA "Maalab" Class of 1993. He holds two master's degrees – a Master in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines and a Master in National Security Administration from the National Defense College of the Philippines.
 
The Army Chief of Staff, in his keynote speech, encouraged Col. Malig to take advantage of his accumulated experiences in the CMO field. “Let us sustain our progressive civilian-military and stakeholders projects which all contribute in nation building – fostering a strong Philippine Army and a strong republic,” emphasized Maj. Gen. Camba.
