Primera Brigade marks 58th founding anniversary

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido lauded the 51st Engineer “Primera” Brigade (51EBde) for the unit’s crucial role in nation-building during its 58th founding anniversary celebration at Camp Gen. Rigoberto J. Atienza in Libis, Quezon City on July 15, 2024.

The Army Chief, in his keynote remarks, commended the Primera troopers for their “far-reaching and impactful services” that brought development and relief for the Filipino people. 51EBde is marking its 58th founding anniversary with the theme “Matatag na 51st Brigade Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas.”

The core of 51EBde's anniversary celebration is its unwavering commitment to provide general engineer support to Philippine Army Major Units and to conduct humanitarian assistance and disaster response (HADR) operations during calamities. It can be noted that the Primera Brigade, the Army’s pioneer engineer unit, covers Luzon as its Area of Operation.

The Army Chief also joined the Primera Brigade top brass led by Brig. Gen. Antonio C. Rota Jr. in inaugurating the brigade’s water refilling station which will provide free potable water for the unit's officers, enlisted personnel, civilian human resource as well as their dependents. This said cost-effective project is in line with Lt. Gen. Galido's guidance on encouraging soldiers to embrace a healthy lifestyle by staying hydrated and reducing the use of single-use plastics for a cleaner environment.
