Philippine Army kicks off two-day 15th Senior Leaders Conference

The Philippine Army kicked off the two-day 15th Senior Leaders Conference (SLC)—an annual summit that aims to cultivate the culture of strategic thinking within the organization and introduce effective leadership principles to the Army top brass—at Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on March 16, 2023.

This year’s SLC is anchored on the theme “On The Threshold of Transformation: The Continuing Quest For PA’s Competitive Edge.” A pool of local and foreign subject matter experts from the military and public sector discussed Module 1 which centered on the topic “Staying on Tempo: Scanning the Army’s Strategic Landscape." Meanwhile, Module 2 which will be tackled by experts on March 17 will focus on the role of the land force in multi-domain operations.

The symposium, which was first held in 2004, is among the series of events held in celebration of the Philippine Army's 126th founding anniversary. Philippine Army Major Units commanders and key Headquarters Philippine Army officers attended the event onsite at the Philippine Army Officers’ Clubhouse while other senior leaders joined via video teleconferencing.

“Think out of the box. Open your minds. Broaden your horizons. That in a gist is the guidance for the 15th edition of the Philippine Army Senior Leaders’ Conference," Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., said in his welcome remarks. “This forum is an opportunity to extend our awareness, examine our points of view, and sharpen our saws, so to speak. We must make time to seek new knowledge, gain unfiltered views, and understand what our stakeholders and citizens are thinking, doing, and dreaming about. We do this to grow as leaders,” the Army chief remarked.
