HISTORY

The 11^th Infantry “Alakdan” Division, Philippine Army traces its roots when PRES. RODRIGO ROA DUTERTE announced the deployment of an army division in the island provinces of Western Mindanao on November 27, 2018. Thus, on December 1, 2018, the 11^th Infantry “Alakdan” Division (Provisional) was activated pursuant to General Orders Number 1463 General Headquarters Armed Forces of the Philippines dated 22 November 2018.

The Island province of Sulu which is composed of 19 municipalities was designated as the 11^th Infantry Division’s area of responsibility with the mission to conduct development support and security operations to defeat the Abu Sayyaf Group, and support the peace process with MILF and the MNLF to create an environment conducive for inclusive economic growth and human development in Sulu.
