An Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) member was presented to Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of the 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division at Bud Bagsak, Talipao, Sulu on June 15, 2023.
According to Lt. Col. Benito G. Ramos Jr., Commanding Officer of 2nd Special Forces Battalion the former member was identified as @Tigong 41 yrs old, married, with 3 children and a resident of Upper Binuang, Talipao, Sulu. "He was the right-hand of ASG subleader @Idang Susukan. He brought along with him one (1) M14 garand rifle. This was made possible through the collaborative efforts of our troops and the Municipal Task Force in Ending Local Armed Conflict (MTF-ELAC) of Talipao," said Lt. Col. Ramos.
In an interview, @Tigong shared how he entered the group. According to him, he joined the ASG year back in 2011. He is the cousin of ASG subleader @Idang Susukan. Since the capture of @Idang, he lied low and hid until he decided to surrender and avail the Localized Social Integration Program of the government.
Maj. Gen.Patrimonio lauded the efforts of the unit and the collaboration of the local government unit of Talipao saying, " I commend our troops and the Talipao MTF - ELAC for actively reaching out to our brother who wants to start a new life. Let us continue to work together to sustain our gains on peace and security campaign in the province of Sulu."
