The last juvenile foreign terrorist Elnekhily Ibrahim Hamada Mohamed surrendered to the 1103rd Infantry “Kalis” Brigade under Col. Christopher C. Tampus, Brigade Commander at Camp Bud Datu, Barangay Tagbak, Indanan, Sulu on June 14, 2023.
According to Col. Tampus, "Ibrahim is a 13-year-old Egyptian national believed to have entered the country in 2017 as tourist through the Manila International Airport with his stepfather, mother and two brothers. They initially joined the ASG in Basilan in 2017 and then transferred to Sulu to join ASG Leader Hatid Hadjan Sawadjaan in 2018. Ibrahim joined the ASG as a juvenile 10-year-old fighter and was involved in numerous encounters in Sulu sustaining two injuries in the head and right forearm."
"Ibrahim’s mother Reda Mohammad Mahmud blew herself as a suicide bomber while attacking an AFP checkpoint in Km 3, Barangay Kajatian, Indanan, Sulu on September 8, 2019. Ibrahim’s stepfather, Abduramil and brother Abdurahman died in an encounter with AFP troops in Barangay Kan Islam, Indanan, Sulu on November 7, 2019. Another brother, Yusof was killed in an encounter with AFP troops on April 17, 2021, in Igasan, Patikul, Sulu," added Col. Tampus.
Ibrahim who now speaks in Tausog dialect said, “Akala ko mamasyal lang kami sa Pilipinas pero sa Abu Sayyaf pala kami napunta kaya may tampo ako sa mama ko.”
Moreso, Ellam Abduraji Panduga, 27 years old and a former ASG sub-leader surrendered in the same day. He is 27 years old, resident of Barangay Danag, Patikul, Sulu and one of the trusted and close-in security of ASG Senior Leader Radullan Sahiron aka Magang. He was recruited at age 15 years old and served as the guide of the said group in Patikul area.
In a statement, Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of the 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division said,“I congratulate the efforts of the 1103rd Brigade for facilitating their return to the folds of the law and mainstream society."
"We will assure that the former terrorists will benefit from the program of the government and we continue to urge the remaining members of the LTGs to choose the path of peace to feel and enjoy a decent life, added Maj. Gen. Patrimonio."
