Camp Bautista Jolo, Sulu - July 11, 2023
The 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division and Sulu Provincial Government, Sulu Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) together with the Local Government Unit of Jolo, conducted a blood-letting activity in preparation for the Sulu Surgical Outreach Program held at 11ID Gymnasium in Camp Teodulfo Bautista Barangay Busbus, Jolo, Sulu on July 5, 2023.
According to Dra. Nehama Nemertina Q. Tan-Singki, IPHO Medical Doctor, the blood-letting activity was in connection for the upcoming Sulu Surgical Outreach Program (SOP) 2023 in partnership with the GMA Kapuso Foundation Incorporated (GMAKFI), World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP) and the Provincial Government of Sulu. The activity intends to collect blood to be ulitized for the upcoming SOP in treating patients with various medical conditions.
"Hindi lang ang aming seguridad ang inyong prioridad maging ang health service ay nakasalalay na rin sainyo dahil sainyo kami nagpapatulong pagdating sa blood products. Maliit mang bagay ang pag bigay ng dugo ngunit ito ay malaking bagay sa mga nanagagailangan. Maraming salamat sa inyong pagsuporta dito sa ating aktibidad," said Dra. Tan-Singki.
Around 120 bags were collected from the personnel of 11ID and TOG-SulTaw who voluntarily donated their blood in support to the indigent patients.
Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of the 11ID and Joint Task Force Sulu represented by Col. Gregorio S. Nieveras, Division Inspector General, expressed his gratitude and deep appreciation to those who participated in the activity saying, "We gathered not only to donate our blood but also to demonstrate our unwavering support for this noble cause. Through our collective efforts we help the Surgical Outreach Program reach more people, touch more lives and create a lasting impact by making a simple yet profound contributions."
"I commend and salute all troops who participated and continue supporting in this activity. You are not only giving your part of yourself but you are also giving a gift of life to someone who needs it. Our contribution no matter how small it is, it can make the world of difference in the lives of those who are suffering," Col. Nieveras concluded.
In support to the Blood-letting activity, Hon. Kerkhar S. Tan, Mayor of Jolo is also one of the sponsors of the said activity, providing the snacks and refreshments for the medical doctors and blood extractors of IPHO and CBTSH, blood donors and support personnel of 11ID.
The GMAKFI, WSFP together with JTF Sulu, Sulu IPHO and Sulu Provincial Government, will be conducting the Sulu Surgical Outreach Program that will provide quality surgical care for indigent patients in the province on July 11-13, 2023.
Present during the event was Mr. Nash U. Abduhadi Jr, Municapal Tourism Officer representative of Jolo Mayor Kerkhar Tan, Dr. Jhufel L. Ferraren, Dr. Reynaldo Q. Pescadera, IPHO staff and military personnel.
