A 3-day Sulu Surgical Outreach Program of The GMA Kapuso Foundation Incorporated (GMAKFI), in partnership with World Surgical Foundation Philippines (WSFP), Provincial Government of Sulu, Sulu Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO), and Joint Task Force Sulu at Camp Teodulfo Bautista Station Hospital and Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) in Jolo, Sulu on July 11-13, 2023.
Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of the 11th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Sulu, who personally observed the surgical operations processes. "I wanted to see for myself the procedures, I want to ensure them that we, soldiers, are here to assist them."
Around 127 were successfully treated, 27 from major and 100 from minor surgical cases were successfully operated. Reportedly, patients have undergone Thyroidectomy, Lobectomy, Cheiloplasty, Cholecystectomy and Excision of Buccal Cyst procedures.
Meanwhile, Dr. Marcus Lester Suntay, President of WSFP, who carried out the surgical operation, said that the operation processes are still ongoing. With the 3-day activity, they wanted to maximize the time in able to cater all patients needed to be operated.
