Camp Bautista, Jolo, Sulu - July 11, 2023
Lt. Gen. William N. Gonzales, Inspector General of the Armed Forces of the Philippines visited the headquarters of 11th Infantry "Alakdan"Division in Camp Teodulfo Bautista, Barangay Busbus, Jolo, Sulu on July 7, 2023.
Lt. Gen. Gonzales was warmly welcomed by Maj. Gen. Ignatius N.Patrimonio, Commander of the 11ID and Joint Task Force Sulu. Upon his arrival, soldiers, airmen, and civilian human resources welcomed him with the traditional Tausug "Pangalay" dance.
During the visit, Maj. Gen. Patrimonio apprised the Inspector General through an information briefing, underlining the current thrusts of the JTF Sulu in its peace and security campaign.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Gonzales took his time to talk with the troops and delivered his message of guidance saying, "Ngayon napaka peaceful na ang mga lugar, isa na dito ang probinsya ng Sulu, Basilan at Tawi-Tawi. Ang laki na nang pinagbago at ako'y natutuwa sa inyong accomplishments dito sa Sulu na hindi matatawaran. Ang inyong mga ginagawa ay aming namomonitor, continue what you are doing and improve yourselves through trainings."
"Ang pagpunta namin dito ay hindi lang upang tignan ang unit status ngunit upang tignan din ang kalagayan ng bawat sundalo, to address the issues and concern and to check the morale and welfare of the troops," said Lt. Gen. Gonzales.
Moreso, Brig. Gen. Leodigario Macalintal, Deputy Inspector General reiterated the purpose of their visit saying, "Our job is to inspect, conduct investigations, and report all to our Chief of Staff including the efficiency, effectivenes, morale and discipline of the troops. It is the time for you to give your concerns in order for us to relay it to the higher headquarters," said Brig. Gen. Macalintal.
Prior to his position, Lt. Gen. Gonzales was the former Commander of the 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division. He is a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “Makatao" Class of 1989.
Present during the activity were Brig. Gen. Eugenio C. Boquio, Brigade Commander of 1101st Brigade, Col. Andrew B. Bacala Jr, 11ID Chief of Staff, Staff of the Office of the Inspector General and other JTF Sulu staff.
