Military, LGU holds Civic Action program far-flung community in Sulu

Camp Bautista Jolo, Sulu – July 25, 2023

The 1103rd Infantry “Kalis” Brigade and 6th Special Forces “Lionheart” Battalion in partnership with Patikul Municipal Task Force – Ending Local Armed Conflict conducted a 2-day Medical Civic Action Program in Sitio Lumbaan, Barangay Buhanginan, and Barangay Pansul both in Patikul, Sulu on July 15-16, 2023.

According to Brig. Gen. Christopher C. Tampus, Brigade Commander of 1103rd Bde, “Around 2,246 individuals were able to avail the medical civic action program. This program aims to provide community a quality service and to sustain the peace and development in the far flung areas especially here in Patikul,” said Brig. Gen. Tampus.

The residents of the two barangays were provided with free medical services and medicines, free haircut, while fun games and with a clown entertainment that the children enjoyed.

Col. Amadeo Cruz, Deputy Brigade Commander 1103rd Bde, Lt. Col. Harold L. Nemeno, Commanding Officer of 6SFBn, Barangay Chairman of two barangay’s were also there to jointly supervise the activity.

Meanwhile, Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of the 11th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Sulu lauded the troops and LGU’s for their unwavering support and untiring efforts for the community.

“Our concerted effort to provide basic services to the community reflects how united we are towards our common goal. Let’s maintain the peace and work hard with utmost dedication to serve our people,” said Maj. Gen. Patrimonio.

Furthermore, it can be recalled that the Barangay Pansul is one of the community that were able to return through the Balik Barangay Program in 2021. After five years of fleeing due to armed-conflict they are in their land and living in harmony.
