The Municipal Task Force in Ending Local Armed Conflict (MTF-ELAC) officially declared Luuk as an ASG-Free municipality at Kan Hadjili Covered Court, Brgy. Tanduh Bato, Luuk, Sulu on August 07, 2023.
The Luuk MTF-ELAC issued Resolution Number 01 series of 2023 declaring the municipality as ASG-Free and ready for further development. During the program, the ASG-Free Luuk banner was unveiled to make the declaration official.
In his remarks, Hon. Al-Makram N Arbison, Municipal Vice-Mayor of Luuk and Chairperson of MTF-ELAC said, "In behalf of Mayor Hon. Maryam N. Arbison it is my great pleasure and immense pride to declare the municipality of Luuk as ASG free. This historic occasion represents a tremendous accomplishment in our never-ending pursuit of peace, security, and stability. Let us continue to work together to build a community that values peace, inclusivity, and growth.
Meanwhile, Brig. Gen. Giovanni T. Franza, Commander of 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade said, "Kung tayo lang po mga kasundaluhan ang gagawa ng trabaho hindi natin makakamit ang lahat ng ito. Kaya naman kami ay nagpapasalamat sa suporta ng lahat, lalo na ang suporta ng iba't ibang ahensya ng gobyerno, upang maideklara ang ASG-Free dito sa munisipyo sa Luuk. Dahil dito, malaki ang gagampanan ng ating mga barangay leaders sa pagtiyak na hindi na maibabalik ang dating kaguluhan at tuluyang mapuksa ang terorismo.”
It can be recalled that Indanan, Patikul, Maimbung, and Omar have also declared their respective municipalities as ASG free.
