Sulu Governor Abdusakur M. Tan personally handed-over the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP) assistance to the first-ever recipients held at Provincial Capitol, Barangay Bangkal, Patikul, Sulu on August 17, 2023.
Admir M. Sirih of Barangay Marsada, Talipao and Aifer Heirala from Barangay Maligay, Patikul were the first recipients of the E-CLIP in Sulu. Each Former Violent Extremists (FVEs) received the financial assistance, in the form of a check amounting to a total of P65,000.00, consisted of P15,000.00 immediate assistance and P50,000.00 livelihood assistance.
During the activity, Gov. Tan said, "Kami ay nagpapasalamat sa inyong pagbabalik-loob at makakaasa kayo sa tulong ng gobyerno. Gamitin ninyo sana yan para sa inyong kinabukasan at sa inyong pamilya."
In a statement, Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of 11th Infantry "Alakdan Division said, "These actions manifest the sincerity and the desire of our government to help our FVEs who chose to surrender peacefully. We are also optimistic that the remaining ASG returnees will also benefit from this program."
E-CLIP is a government program that aims to help former rebels to include ASG returnees to restore their allegiance to the Philippine Government. Through the program, they can be reintegrated back to the community, be with their families, and start over with their new lives.
The activity was witnessed by Hon. Abdusakur "Totoh" Tan II, Vice Governor of Sulu, 19 different municipal mayors of Sulu and 11ID senior officers.
