Sulu Governor Abdusakur M. Tan concurred and signed the recommendation of the Area Clearing Validation Board (ACVB) declaring the 4 barangays in Indanan as cleared from influence of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) held at Provincial Capitol, Barangay Bangkal, Patikul, Sulu on August 17, 2023.
It can be recalled that in 2021, the security forces recorded a total of 52 ASG influenced barangays in Sulu. With the declaration of the 4 remaining barangays, the Province of Sulu is now cleared from ASG influence.
In his remarks, Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of 11ID said, "This is an indication that our peace and security campaign is effective and on-track. We are hopeful that our efforts and commitment will pave the way for the inclusive peace and development in the province of Sulu."
Meanwhile, Gov. Tan lauded the efforts and sacrifices of the military for the success of CSP-PCVE saying, "I am very greatful for the opportunity given to me to have witnessed and to experience more than 5 decades of various socio-political conditions and significant events in Sulu's timeline."
The activity was witnessed by Hon. Abdusakur "Totoh" Tan II, Vice Governor of Sulu, 19 different municipal mayors of Sulu, and 11ID senior officers.
