The Municipal Task Force in Ending Local Armed Conflict (MTF-ELAC) of the island municipalities of Siasi and Pandami, Sulu were declared ASG-Free on August 19, 2023.
Both LGUs issued their respective resolutions that declared their municipalities as ASG-Free. The event was celebrated as a milestone as their municipalities will now be ready for further development.
Hon. Nurhan S. Berto, Mayor of Pandami expresssed his heartfelt thanks saying, "Iba na ang Sulu ngayon, hindi na tulad ng dati. Alam yan mga kasundaluhan natin at nagpapasalamat kami sa patuloy nilang pagbibigay serbisyo lalo na't sa peace and order. Kaya naman lubos kaming nagpapasalamat."
Among the highlights of the event were the ceremonial signing of resolution as ASG free municipalities and the People's Peace Covenant.
Meanwhile, Hon. Ben-Sayeed M. Muksan, Municipal Mayor of Siasi expressed also his profound gratitude saying, "Ito na ang araw na aming hinihintay na maideklarang ASG free na aming lugar. Sa tulong ng ating men in uniform at kooperasyon ng mamamayan ng Siasi ay nakamit na natin ang ating matagal ng minimithi," said Mayor Muksan.
Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) Sulu and 11th Infantry Division congratulated the 2 municipalities as free from ASG influence saying, "We have witnessed a momentous event today. The declarations of municipalities as ASG free is the result of our collective efforts to fully attain our goal in fostering peace and usher us the opportunity to boost our eco-tourism. Our peace and security campaign in Sulu is effective and on-track."
Present during the event were Brig. Gen. Eugenio C. Boquio, Commander of 1101st Bde; Ms. Nashra Tulawie, MILG-Sulu; MTF-ELAC focal person, Municipal Police of Pandami and Siasi and JTF Sulu staff.
