Camp Bautista, Jolo, Sulu - August 29, 2023
The 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division through the 1101st Infantry Brigade, in collaboration with local government unit of Talipao, inaugurated the rehabilitated Battle of Bud Daho Memorial Marker and Trail Park at Bud Daho, Talipao, Sulu on August 27, 2023.
Around 215 individuals from the security forces and civilian partner stakeholders trekked Bud Daho. The historic mountain symbolizes the resilience and resistance of our forefathers against foreign forces and to remember and honor their heroism.
Mr. Tony Radjili, Tourism Officer of Talipao expressed his sincere gratitude for the event saying, "In behalf of our Mayor Nivocadnezar Tulawie, we are grateful for this significant milestone. It manifests our appreciation in preserving our rich culture and renowned history. The battle of Bud Daho is one of those which gave importance to our Tausug identity."
Meawhile, Brig. Gen. Giovanni T. Franza, General Officer-In-Charge conveyed the message of Maj. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio, Commander of JTF Sulu saying, "The battle of Bud Daho it's not just a chapter in our history, it is a testament to the resilience, bravery and unwavering commitment of our Tausug brothers and sisters to defend the province of Sulu. May this event move us forward with a renewed commitment in sustaining the peace in the province of Sulu."
Among the hightlights of the activity were the ribbon cutting of the Bud Daho Memorial Trail Marker and Wreath Laying Ceremony.
Present during the event were Col. Andrew Bacala Jr. 11ID Chief of Staff, Mr. Noenyrie Asiri, Focal Person of PTF-ELAC, military officials and other partner stakeholders.
