SIGNAL PERSONNEL LEADS IED RECOVERY

CGMTY, MAWAB, COMPOSTELA VALLEY PROVINCE – Combined elements of 10thSignal Battalion, ASR(P), PA, 101MICO and 2EODC recovered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED)with wires and blasting cap in the morning of Monday, October 2, 2017.

Two days before the recovery of said IED, SSg Rustom J Menesis, personnel of 10th Signal Battalion received an information from his informant regarding a laid wire along Purok Ilang-Ilang in Barangay San Agustin of Tagum City. On the morning of October 02, 2017, SSg Meneses after personally validating the accuracy of the information relayed it with 101MICO where planning execution for recovery and further coordination transpired. At around 9:00 in the morning, 101MICO personnel lead by SSg Ogie D Catolico conducted reconnaissance security within the area.

  Upon the arrival of 2EODC personnel lead by MSg Rolito A. Quimson for the execution briefing, the group composed of combined elements from 10th Signal Batallion, 10MICO and 2EODC were divided into two, with the main effort lead by 2EODC personnel accompanied by SSg Meneses and SSg Along tasked to recover the IED and supporting effort lead by 101MICO under Cpt Camarillo tasked to conduct thorough area reconnaissance and security within the area. Recovered in the engagement are 1 Improvised Explosive Device weighing around 5 kilograms, 50 meters electrical wire and 1 improvised electric blasting cap.

  With intensified intelligence fusion, interoperability and strong stakeholder’s engagements done, the troops involved with this intelligence operation accomplished their task efficiently which led for the successful recovery of the IED which definitely brought unrestrained effect on the ongoing NPA recovery efforts within the area.

  The recovered items were turned-over to 3EODP, 2EODC, ASCOM, PA based in Camp Felix Apolinario, Panacan, Davao City for proper disposition.
