Cybersecurity Lab to be set up

CSD1

With the ever increasing cyber threats, we are seeing more and more efforts done to strengthen our organization’s cyber security defense mechanism. A cyber security lab will be set up, located at Network Enterprise Technology Center (NETC). The site would provide a "realistic environment" for cybersecurity research and testing.

It can simulate more than 20 computers to perform various tasks to create cybersecurity incidents, such as malicious cyber-attacks. It will also have a database of malware that can be tapped for research and education purposes. These capabilities are expected to be further expanded. The new lab would look to provide ready-to-use tools for cybersecurity tests and data that researchers could use to support their ideas. It also would offer hands-on training for students and industry professionals concerning system vulnerabilities.

The new facility is an initiative of Philippine Army’s cybersecurity program. It will be the first lab to focus on cyber security and will be able to accommodate 20 researchers. It will have two main research areas. This will fill a gap in the current cyber security programs and it will not only benefit the organization but also provide a pool of cyber security professionals who can help make Philippine Army a safer, more resilient place for everyone.
