Philippine Army installs new Special Forces Regiment "Airborne" commander

Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr., paid his last respect to the late former Chief of Staff, Armed Forces of the Philippines (CSAFP) Gen. Lisandro C. Abadia (Ret) in a necrological service on Friday night, January 28, 2022, at the Mortuary of the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila.
The CGPA paid tribute to late General Abadia who led the AFP as its 22nd chief from April 1991 to April 1994, overseeing AFP Campaign Plan ‘Lambat Bitag’ that diminished the strength of the communist terrorist group. The late General Abadia also served as the Commanding General of the Philippine Army in 1991. He passed away at the age of 83.
“Throughout his 36 years of service for the Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Abadia has the finest ideals of Filipino soldiery and has epitomized the highest standards of the Philippine Army’s core values of honor, patriotism, and duty,” Lt. Gen. Brawner said.
The CGPA also recalled how the late General Abadia institutionalized professionalism and meritocracy in the AFP promotion system and how he implemented a comprehensive approach in dealing with the insurgency.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Philippine Army, I express my sincerest condolences and offer my solemn prayers to the bereaved loved ones of the late General Abadia,” the CGPA remarked.
