Army Chief tells troops: Sustain a CTG-free Sarangani Province

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido lauded the 1002nd Infantry “Bagwis” Brigade for pursuing initiatives aimed at sustaining its gains against the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) during his visit to Camp Agaab, Malungon, Sarangani on October 28, 2024.

In his keynote remarks, the Army Chief lauded Bagwis officers and enlisted personnel for pursuing the “Bagwis” approach in preventing the resurgence of the CTG in its area of responsibility. The “Bagwis” approach involves the blocking of enemy recovery efforts; advancing the transformation of lives of former rebels, supporters, and conflict-affected communities; guaranteeing continuous evaluation, monitoring, and sustainment of conflict transformation; winning the battle to sustain the area as CTG-free; inhospitable conditions for insurgents; and strengthening gains through partnerships and collaborations.

Lt. Gen. Galido likewise emphasized the Army leadership’s continuous support for the brigade, particularly in strengthening its CMO Competency buildup. Troops' enhanced CMO capability can increase recruitment within the reserve component which is vital in the Army's total force and crucial in its shift to territorial defense.
