Sunrise Ceremony commences 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan and 2024 Philippine Veterans’ Week Commemoration

Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido served as the guest of honor and speaker in the Sunrise Ceremony that commenced the commemoration of the 82nd Araw ng Kagitingan and the 2024 Philippine Veterans’ Week at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier (TUKS), Libingan ng mga Bayani, Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City on April 5, 2024.

“We must teach the youth that valor needs not be constrained and witnessed only during wartime. This I think, above all others, would be the most befitting tribute we can give our ancestors. Let their examples be our inspiration, that we too can be heroes,” the Army Chief said in his remarks.

This week’s Araw ng Kagitingan is anchored on the theme “Pagpaparangal sa Kagitingan ng mga Beterano: Saligan para sa Nakakaisang Filipino.” The traditional Sunrise Ceremony is held at the crack of dawn to symbolize the coming of new hope for the motherland. The ceremony is also a symbolic gesture of gratitude to veterans who fought valiantly to secure the country's freedom.
