Army takes part in Balikatan’s Maritime Strike Exercise

The Philippine Army, through the Army Artillery Regiment, showcased seamless interoperability with other major service branches of the AFP and the U.S. Armed Forces, in Balikatan’s Maritime Strike Exercise held on the coastal of area of Ilocos Norte on May 8, 2024.
 
The maritime strike exercise involved the seamless integration of air, land, and naval assets, culminating in the simulated sinking of the BRP Lake Caliraya. Said maritime strike life-fire exercise was the highlight of this year’s PH-US Balikatan Exercise wherein the state-of-the-art air, naval and land assets of the armed forces of both countries took part in sinking the target decommissioned Philippine Navy ship BRP Lake Caliraya.
 
The Balikatan Exercise is a bilateral exercise between the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the US military forces designed to strengthen bilateral interoperability in combined and joint operations in support of the Territorial Defense of the Philippines.
