"Be prepared": CGPA gives advice to “Bagong-Sinag” Army cadets

The Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido hosted a reception dinner for the graduating Philippine Army cadets of Philippine Military Academy “Bagong-Sinag” Class of 2024 at the Cordillera Convention Hall, Baguio Country Club Baguio City on May 11, 2024.
 
The 278-strong graduating class is composed of 224 men and 54 women who are set to be commissioned as second lieutenants in the Army and Air Force and ensigns in the Navy. Of the number, 144 will join the Philippine Army, 72 will go to the Philippine Navy, and another 62 will enter the Philippine Air Force.
 
Five females of the top ten graduating cadets are set to join the Army: Cadet 1st Class Jeneth B. Elumba (Rank 1); Cadet 1st Class Cyril Joy J. Masculino (Rank 4); Cadet 1st Class Rosemel B. Dogello (Rank 5); Cadet 1st Class Alexa Mye P. Valen (Rank 6); and Cadet 1st Class Danica Marie D. Viray (Rank 9).
 
Lt. Gen. Galido led the ceremonial handover of Glock pistol and initial clothing and initial equipment package to the cadets who will soon serve as platoon leaders of the Army. “Be prepared for the journey ahead, which will undoubtedly include rigorous tests, intense pressures, and demanding challenges. You will encounter difficult situations from all directions. All of these will serve to test your character and discipline,” the CGPA told the graduating Army cadets in his speech.
