PA, Australian Army kick-off Exercise "Kasangga" in Isabela

The Philippine Army, through the 5th Infantry Division (5ID), and Australian Army troops kicked-off Exercise “Kasangga” 24-1 in an opening ceremony at Camp Melchor F. Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela on May 13, 2024.
 
A total of 100 personnel from the 86th Infantry Battalion, 5ID are training side-by-side with 50 Australian Army soldiers on Reconnaissance, Mortar, Drone Operations, Logistics, Signal Operations, Jungle and Urban, Tactical Combat Casualty Care and Breaching Operations. It also includes the sharing of experiences between the 5ID and the Australian Army troops in combating terrorist groups.
 
5ID Assistant Division Commander Brig. Gen. Santiago Enginco served as the keynote speaker while Maj. Michael Cracknell of the Joint Australian Training Team- Philippines (JATT-P), Coordinator of the Australian Embassy Manila and Maj. Lindsay Pritchard, 1st Battalion Commanding Officer, led the Australian Army contingent. Brig. Gen. Enginco emphasized the significant benefits of the training, not only in strengthening relations with the Australians but also in gaining knowledge and experience from them. The said bilateral training exercise will culminate on June 21, 2024.
