Army installs new 11ID Commander

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City – The Philippine Army welcomed Brig. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña as the new commander of the 11th Infantry Division in a Change of Command and Retirement Ceremony, presided by Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido at Camp Teodulfo Bautista, Brgy. Bus-bus, Jolo, Sulu on August 9, 2024.

Prior to his new designation, Brig. Gen. Peña served as Chief of the Office of Ethical Standards and Public Accountability (OESPA) under the 3rd Infantry Division. Brig. Gen. Peña is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) "Sambisig" Class of 1991. He holds a Master of Science in Defense Analysis from Naval Post Graduate School and Master in Public Management from the Development Academy of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Outgoing Commander Brig. Gen. Ignatius N. Patrimonio retired from the service after rendering 38 years of loyal military service. In his time as the Commander of 11ID since 2022, he vastly contributed in eradicating the ongoing threats of insurgency and terrorism in Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.

Lt. Gen. Galido, in his keynote speech, lauded Brig. Gen. Patrimonio for his prolific leadership in 11ID. The Army Chief also expressed confidence that Brig. Gen. Peña will continue the command's legacy. He emphasized that being a leader involves sacrifice and making critical decisions to inspire and mentor all his troops and subordinates.
