Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido visited the 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command (593ESC) of the U.S. Army at the Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington, USA on November 4, 2024 in line with bolstering the Philippine Army’s logistics and sustainment capabilities.
Lt. Gen. Galido, who was accompanied by U.S. Army 1 Corps Commanding General Lt. Gen. Matthew W. McFarlane, received capability briefs from 593ESC Commander Brig. Gen. Kevin Cotman, 1st Multi-Domain Task Force Commander Col. Charles Kean and 5th Security Force Assistance Brigade Commander Col. Brandon Teague.
Lt. Gen. Galido also observed a static display at the 13th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion motor pool where he viewed U.S. Army sustainment capabilities deployed across different force levels which are structured to support large-scale logistics operations. It can be noted that large-scale logistics and sustainment are areas of strategic interest to the Philippine Army as it strengthens its territorial defense posture.
“Strengthening our logistics capability particularly for large-scale deployment and ground force sustainment is vital in our shift to territorial defense operations,” Lt. Gen. Galido said during the visit.
