The 8th Infantry “Stormtroopers" Division (8ID) welcomed its 27th Commander in a Change of Command Ceremony in Camp General Vicente Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar on November 7, 2024.
Maj. Gen. Adonis Ariel G. Orio officially took the helm of the Division, succeeding Brig. Gen. Perfecto P. Peñaredondo who will resume his post as the 8ID Assistant Division Commander.
It can be recalled that Maj. Gen. Orio commanded the 402nd Infantry "Stingers" Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division prior to his new designation. Maj. Gen. Orio led his Brigade in bringing inclusive peace and sustainable development to conflict-affected communities in the CARAGA Region by successfully dismantling Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) Fronts and reducing the number of active CTG fighters within his area of operations.

Your dedication and sacrifices are making a real impact and each day, we gain towards achieving our shared goals," Vice Commander, Philippine Army, Maj. Gen. Leodevic B. Guinid remarked on behalf of Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido.
