Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri affirms support for Army modernization

Senate President Juan Miguel F. Zubiri affirmed support for the Philippine Army’s modernization thrust during his meeting with the Army top brass led by Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner Jr. at the Headquarters Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio, Metro Manila on May 22, 2023.
 
“You serve with honor and unwavering commitment even when you are working at a disadvantage against overwhelming odds. Kaya naman, saludo po ako sa inyong lahat,” Sen. Zubiri remarked. “With modern equipment and technology, you will be positioned to serve our country even better. You have my full support for all the capacity-building efforts needed by the Army,” the senator added.
 
“Now more than ever, we in the Senate will be your partners in strengthening and modernizing the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and ensuring that all of our uniformed personnel are given the tools and support they need in order to best serve the country,” Sen. Zubiri told the Army’s top brass.
 
The senator likewise affirmed his support to ensure the funding for the ongoing Horizon 2 and the upcoming Horizon 3 of the AFP Revised Modernization Program and the proposed revival of the mandatory Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) Bill.
