BGEN ROMMEL K TELLO PA was born on September 16, 1967 in Murcia, Negros Occidental. He took up Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at West Negros College in 1984 before entering the Philippine Military Academy in 1986. He graduated as a proud member of the PMA “Bigkis-Lahi” Class of 1990.
His initial assignments were at the 18th Infantry Battalion, 1st Infantry Division in Mindanao, as a Platoon Leader, Company Executive Officer, and Company Commander. In 2000, he served as a Team Leader and Liaison Officer at the United Nations Guards Contingent in Iraq. In 2007, he became the Battalion Commander of the 76th Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division, the youngest of the army at that time. In 2009, he was designated as the Senior Tactical Officer of the Tactics Group in PMA, and in 2010, he was designated as the Commanding Officer of the Headquarters Support Group in PMA. In 2013, he became the Chief of Staff of the then Intelligence and Security Group and then Intelligence Service Armed Forces of the Philippines in 2017 before becoming the Commander of the 902rd Infantry Brigade, 9th Infantry Division in 2019. In 2020, he was designated as the Assistant Division Commander of the 2nd Infantry Division.
He underwent various professional military education and training, both local and foreign, during his army career. He graduated with a Master in Management Major in Public Administration at the Philippine Christian University. He also completed the Asia Pacific Program for Senior Military Officers at S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies in Singapore.
Through his dedication to the values of honor, courage, commitment and excellence, he received various commendations, awards, and decorations. He is a recipient of several Distinguished Service Stars among others for the services he rendered in positions of major responsibility. Under his leadership, the battalion and brigade he commanded were adjudged as Southern Luzon Command’s Best Unit, and were bestowed with CGPA Streamer and CSAFP Kapayapan Plaque.
He is happily married to Mrs. Mary Anne Trayvilla Tello, and they are blessed with three children, Krestiani, Yetzak, and Erwin Rommel.
BGEN TELLO is currently designated as the Assistant Division Commander of the 2nd Infantry “Jungle Fighter” Division, Philippine Army at Camp General Mateo Capinpin in Tanay, Rizal.
