6ID has a new Commander

CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte— The new Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division, Philippine Army, has assumed leadership in the 41st Change of Command Ceremony at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao today (January 27, 2023).

Lieutenant General Romeo S Brawner Jr., Commanding General of the Philippine Army, presided over the turnover of leadership to Major General Alex S Rillera from Lt. Gen. Roy M Galido.

Maj. Gen. Alex S Rillera, was the former Deputy Chief of Staff (DCS) for Operations, J3 of the Armed Forces of the Philippines before he assumed the Command of 6ID.

In his message, he thanked the AFP leadership, for the trust and confidence given to him.

"Thank you, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to lead one of the fightingest units and the largest among the Joint Task Forces of the AFP. We all know that being assigned to Central Mindanao is both a privilege and a challenge," said Maj. Gen. Rillera.

His message was summarized in TEAM Kampilan, in which he made the announcement that he will carry on the activities and initiatives began by his immediate predecessor.

"Everyone shall be part of TEAM KAMPILAN! We must work Together for peace, we shall Endeavor to become a reliable, responsive, and relevant unit as we Attain campaign tasks with a sense of urgency, Making way for sustainability in everything we Do", the new 6ID Commander stressed.

Major Gen. Rillera is a graduate of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991. He holds Graduate Diplomas in Management in Defense Studies from the Australian Defense College in 2008 and in Defense Studies in Strategic Planning Management from the University of New South Wales, Australia also in 2008. He served as the Commanding Officer of the 44th Infantry Battalion and 18th Infantry Battalion of the 1st Infantry Division. He also served as the Commanding Officer of the 202nd Infantry (Unifier) Brigade of the 2nd Infantry Division.

Meanwhile, in his short but fruitful and meaningful stint as the former Commander of the 6ID, Lieutenant General Roy Galido demonstrated exemplary performance as a senior officer that is worthy of being emulated. He inculcated with the three philosophies in life that every Kampilan Trooper cherishes: discipline, health, and family.

Lt. Gen. Brawner expressed his gratitude to Lt. Gen. Galido for his excellent leadership of the 6ID and his consistent efforts to keep the peace and maintain order in Central and South Central Mindanao.

"I will still be a farmer, a farmer who is grounded in knowing what will happen, deliberate in the crops, and most importantly, we must be patient and generous when harvesting, and we will reap the benefits soon," Lt. Gen. Galido said.

He also thanked every Kampilan trooper and stakeholders for their support in achieving the Army's goals, however Lt. Gen. Galido urged team Kampilan, "As you supported me, support the new commander as well," the outgoing 6ID Commander added.

In attendance were Brigade and Battalion Commanders of the Organic and OPCON units, officers, enlisted personnel and civilian human resource of the Kampilan Division, PNP Counterparts, governors, mayors, stakeholders, private sectors, media personnel, former DSWD secretary and retired General Rolando Bautista and among others.
