CAMP SIONGCO, Awang, DOS, Maguindanao del Norte – The 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central held a Blessing and Handover Ceremony for new Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) and Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue (CSSR) equipment at the 6ID grandstand, Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte held today (May 21, 2024).
The ceremony was led by Major General Alex S. Rillera PA, Commander of the 6th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Central, with the assistance of Col. Edgar L. Catu, Chief of Staff. The advanced equipment was formally presented by Lt. Col. Josue A. Erie, Assistant Chief of Staff for Logistics, G4, to Major General Rillera.
“The WASAR equipment will enhance the unit's ability to conduct search and rescue operations in flooded areas. These advancements will significantly improve the chances of saving lives during floods and typhoons, which are all too common occurrences in our country. The CSSR equipment, on the other hand, equips the team to effectively respond to collapsed structures caused by earthquakes or other disasters,” said Major General Rillera during the ceremony.
The blessing of the new equipment was conducted by Captain Jake A. Bilbao, the Division Chaplain, ensuring that the gear and those who will operate it are spiritually fortified for their critical missions.
This acquisition is a testament to the commitment of the 6th Infantry Division to enhancing its operational readiness and disaster response capabilities, aiming to safeguard communities and mitigate the impact of natural calamities.
