Commanding General, Philippine Army (CGPA) Lt. Gen. Romeo S. Brawner, Jr. vowed to modernize the Army’s medical treatment facilities in his visit to the 6th Infantry Division’s headquarters in Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao on Friday, January 7.
In his “Talk to Troops,” Lt. Gen. Brawner vowed to upgrade and expand the Army’s medical treatment facilities to provide world-class health services for troops. He commended the 6th Infantry Division’s efforts to expand its hospital with the help of private sector partners. He also cited the P120 million new hospital building for the 4th Infantry Division which was funded under DPWH’s Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Seguridad (TIKAS) program.
The CGPA said the Army looks to partner with DPWH and other private sector partners for funding the modernization of medical treatment facilities in other Army units.
Moreover, Lt. Gen. Brawner directed troops to strictly comply with health protocols amid surging Covid-19 infections driven by the Omicron variant.
The Army Commanding General also reiterated his guidance on taking care of soldiers’ physical and mental health; enhancing their skills and competencies; and ensuring that much-needed resources will reach all Army units.
The CGPA said these thrusts will further capacitate the 100,000-strong Philippine Army to comply with the Commander-in-Chief’s mandate to end the local communist armed conflict by June 2022 and shift its focus on helping the Commission on Elections ensure peaceful and orderly May 2022 polls. He also directed all Army units to deal with private armed groups that might derail the conduct of polls in election hotspots.
“To the 6th Infantry Division, congratulations for all of your gains and successes. Sustain your operational gains. Keep up the good work,” the CGPA remarked.
