Army joins the 126th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence wreath-laying rites

The Philippine Army joined the simultaneous flag-raising and wreath-laying ceremony to mark the 126th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence with President and Commander-in-Chief Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gracing the ceremony at the Quirino Grandstand, Rizal Park, Ermita, Manila on June 12, 2024.

This year's theme is the same as last year - “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” (Freedom, Future, History). “We see it in the resilience of our farmers and fisherfolks as they provide us sustenance. We see it in the dedication of our teachers as they nurture the minds of the future generation. We see it in the tenacity of our soldiers as they protect every inch of our territory, adamant as they are in the certainty that Filipinos do not, and shall never, succumb to oppression,” said President Marcos Jr.

Meanwhile, Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido highlighted the courage and determination of all soldiers in these modern times. “Subalit, kailanman hindi matitinag ang Hukbong Katihan sapagkat nananalaytay sa bawat isa ang dugong magiting at Makabayan. Handa ang ating kasundaluhan na muling ipagtanggol ang ating lupang hinirang upang hindi mawalan ng saysay ang mga dugo’t pawis na inilaan ng ating mga ninuno,” the Army Chief said.
