BGEN JAIME A ABAWAG JR PA is a proud member of the Philippine Military Academy “Bigkis Lahi” Class of 1990.
He started his military career in Mindanao as a Platoon Leader of Charlie Company, 9IB, 4ID, PA, then later became the Company Commander of the same unit. He also commanded the 16th Infantry Battalion, 2ID, PA that was then deployed in Region 4A. He later became the Battalion Commander of Presidential Guards, PSG in National Capital Region and Brigade Commander of 902nd Infantry (FIGHT AND SERVE) Brigade, 9ID, PA prior to his designation as the Assistant Division Commander of 9ID, PA.
Brigadier General Abawag also held progressive command and staff positions in the intelligence community. He commanded the 4th Military Intelligence Battalion, 4ID, PA in Mindanao and also serve as Intelligence Officer of the 402nd Brigade, 4ID, PA; Assistant Unified Chief of Staff for Intelligence of the Central Command, AFP; and Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, G2, PSG.
He completed military schoolings such as the Basic Airborne Course, Scout Ranger Course, Intelligence Officer Course, Infantry Officer Advance Course, Strategic Intelligence Course, and Command and General Staff Course. He also finished two (2) master’s degrees including the Masters in Business Administration at the Xavier University Ateneo De Cagayan and Masters in Management Major in International Development and Security at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), where he was awarded the Gold Medal for Academic Excellence.
Brigadier General Abawag received 130 awards and decorations including the Philippine Legion of Honor, Degree of Legionnaire, and Distinguished Service Stars.
The general is married to the former Miss Zenaida Cabilla and they are blessed with four (4) children: Jamie Sora, Jazen Paraluman, Jen Marcela, and Jen Teresa.
