Assistant Division Commander, 11th Infantry Division

col ampatuanBGEN TAHARUDIN PIANG AMPATUAN INF (MNSA) PA is currently  the Assistant Division Commander of the 11th Infantry (ALAKDAN) Division, Philippine Army. His dedication and passion to service excellence are his strong professional attributes that pushed him to assumed the 2nd highest position in the 11th Infantry  “ALAKDAN” Division on 18 April 2023.

He was commissioned in the Philippine Army after graduating at the Royal Military College in Australia on 10 December 1991.

He has a good and deep understanding on the security landscape of the country since most of his command and significant positions were spent in all of the three main island of the country. His career as a military officer started as a Platoon Leader   and then rose to become the Company Commander of Bravo Company , 34th IB , 8ID in Visayas in 1992-1996; the Battalion Commander of 10th Infantry Battalion, 1st Infantry Tabak Division in Mindanao in 2011; the Commanding Officer of the 5th Division Training School in Northern Luzon in 2013; Group Commander of 4th CRG ,CRSAFP in Mindanao in 2014 ; Deputy Commander of the GHQ and HSC , AFP in the National Capital Region in 2018; and then    reassigned at 11th Infantry Division based in Sulu in 2019 as the Deputy Brigade Commander then Acting Brigade Commander of 1103rd Infantry “Kalis” Bde prior to his current position.

He also held various important staff positions in the Armed Forces of the Philippines such as the Chief of the War Fighting Branch and the Research Development Department of the Training and doctrine Command, Philippine Army; Military Assistant for Army at the Department of National Defense; Director for Policy and Strategy at the National Security Council ; G8 of 1ID,PA; Chief of Staff of GHQ and HSC Armed Forces of the Philippines and the   Chief of Special Service of General Headquarters, Armed Forces of the Philippines.              

COL AMPATUAN excelled most in his military schoolings both on career and specialization courses. He graduated as number one of the class on his AFP Command and General Staff Course and on his Tactical Intelligence Operation Course; top two on his MS -43 course , Psychological Operation Course and Infantry Officer Basic Course; and top number five   on his Infantry Officer Advance Course. He is also a graduate of the Special Forces Operation Course of the Special Forces School , Special Forces
