COL ADREW B BACALA (GSC) INF PA is currently the Chief of Staff of the 11th Infantry (ALAKDAN) Division, Philippine Army. His dedication and passion to service excellence are his strong professional attributes that pushed him to assume as Chief of Staff on 01 June 2023.
He was commissioned in the Philippine Army after graduating at the Philippine Military Academy on 06 March 1994.
His military career started as Civil Military Operations Officer, Executive Officer, and Team Leader of 19th Special Forces Company from 1995-1999. He rose to become the Commanding Officer of the 24th Special Forces Company from 1999-2001 and the 9th Special Forces Company from 2001-2002 in Mindanao. Among his key positions were: the Group Commander of MIG9, ISAFP in 2009-2012; Assistant Chief of Staff for Training, G8 and Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, G2 of Special Operations Command from 2012- 2015 in Luzon; Battalion Commander of 4th Special Forces Battalion in Mindanao from 2016 to 2018; and then reassigned at 11th Infantry Division based in Sulu in 2019 as the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, G2 and Commanding Officer of Military Intelligence Battalion prior to his current position.
He also held various important staff positions in the Philippine Army such as the Executive Officer of the Office of the Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, G2.
COL BACALA excelled most in his military schoolings both on career and specialization courses. He graduated as number one of the class on his Special Forces Operations Course and Military Scuba Diving Course; top two on his Scout Ranger Orientation Course; top three in his Military Intelligence Officer Course; top four on his Infantry Officers Basic Course; and top number six in the Infantry Officer Advance Course. He is also a graduate of the AFP Command and General Staff Course and Strategic Leaders International Course. COL BACALA has also a Master’s degree on Public Management Program major in Development and Security at the Development Academy of the Philippines.
