Army sends off 353 officer candidates

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City - The 353-strong members of Officer Candidate Course (OCC) Class 62-2025 began their military journey in the oath-taking and reception ceremony at the Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command, Camp O'Donnell, Capas, Tarlac on July 13, 2024.

The OCC Class 62-2025 is composed of 313 males and 40 females who came from diverse academic backgrounds such as education, criminology, engineering, psychology, and other courses. They will undergo the one-year OCC training that will develop their physical, mental, and leadership capabilities.

The oath-taking ceremony is a valuable act of pledge and commitment to serve the people and defend the country even risking their lives. On the other hand, the reception rite is a meaningful ceremony to test and gauge the physical strength of the candidates before the formal start of training. To become fully-fledged Army officers, they have yet to undergo the training at the Philippine Army's Officer Candidate School.

Combat Engineer Regiment Brig. Gen. Ulpiano T. Olarte served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker who underscored the importance of responsibility, courage, discipline, and honor during their upcoming intensive training.
