Philippine Army boosts territorial defense readiness and interoperability with PAF

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City - The Philippine Army (PA) bolstered its pivot to territorial defense operations through strengthened collaboration with the Philippine Air Force (PAF) in the five-day PA-PAF Interoperability Exercise (IOX) which commenced on October 7, 2024, at the 5th Infantry Division Headquarters, Camp Melchor Dela Cruz, Upi, Gamu, Isabela.

“By collaborating and sharing our expertise, we ensure that our troops remain at the forefront of operational readiness, ready to defend our nation and sustain peace,” PAF Tactical Operations Wing Northern Luzon (TOWNOL) Wing Commander Brig. Gen. Eric A. Gachalian, the guest of honor and speaker, told the 1,100 PA and 351 PAF training participants.

The key components of the 3rd PA-PAF IOX include a Command Post Exercise/Staff Exercise (CPX/STAFFEX), Subject Matter Expert Exchanges (SMEEs) and Field Training Exercises (FTX) which are geared at enhancing the joint execution of air and ground operations. The said exercise also aligns with the PA's strategic shift to territorial defense operations.

The Army leadership challenged the training participants to test, evaluate, and improve their capability to conduct joint air and ground missions and ensure readiness in territorial defense operations.
