Army Chief stresses value of physical health in military service

FORT BONIFACIO, Taguig City - Army Chief Lt. Gen. Roy M. Galido emphasized the value of maintaining one's physical health and fitness as a foundation for a successful military service during the graduation run of Officer Candidate Course (OCC) Class “Katarakian” 61-2024 at the New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac on November 30, 2024.

The Army Chief, who was among the early finishers of the 21-kilometer run category, called on the graduating cadets and the soldiers present during the event to emulate the high-level of discipline embodied by world-class Filipino athletes. "I hope that TRACOM (Training Command), 'the home of Army standards', will implement this athletes' discipline to make our Army better,” Lt. Gen. Galido remarked. “Our service is like a marathon, it entails a long preparation if you want to succeed,” he added in his remarks following the run.

Around 2,000 runners, which also included the TRACOM officers, enlisted personnel as well as the Army Dragon Boat team, participated in the said event. The run also coincided with the 161st commemoration of Bonifacio Day and the upcoming 73rd founding anniversary of TRACOM.
