IP community benefits outreach program in Zambales

FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – An Indigenous People (IP) community in Zambales benefited from an outreach program held at Brgy. Buhawen, San Marcelino, Zambales last May 19.

The said activity was made possible through the collaboration of the soldiers from 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion (69IB) of 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division (7ID), San Marcelino Municipal Police Station, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, and Municipal Local Government Operations Office of San Marcelino, Zambales.

A total of 130 IPs received hygiene kits and 75 individuals benefited from the free haircut while the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines donated 50 food packs for the local populace of Brgy. Buhawen.

Lt. Col Marcelo Valdez Jr., Commanding Officer of 69IB assured the constant support to all partner stakeholders in the delivery of basic services to the most vulnerable sectors in the unit’s area of operation.

Maj. Gen. Andrew Costelo, commander of 7ID lauded the collaboration of the 69IB, LGU and local police in promoting the welfare of IP community in Zambales.

“Malapit sa puso ko ang ating mga kababayang IP kaya naman sa oras na nagkakaroon ng mga aktibidad na ganito ay hinihikayat ko ang kasundaluhan na makilahok at tumulong,” Maj. Gen. Costelo said
