91st IB starts clearing of debris-laden roads in Aurora
BALER, Aurora-The Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion stepped up clearing efforts to ensure mobility in the whole province of Aurora, after Super typhoon “Pepito” battered on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
Lt. Col. Aries A. Quinto, acting commander of the Philippine Army’s 91st Infantry “Sinagtala” Battalion (91IB), 7th Infantry Battalion (7ID), in coordination with Aurora provincial government, conducted clearing efforts in eight (8) towns calamity areas in the province.
91IB troops likewise evacuated residents living in coastal areas of San Luis town in Aurora.
Quinto said that the Sinagtala troopers along with the national, provincial and local government units (LGUs), continually working tirelessly to remove fallen trees, debris, and damaged infrastructure.
“Our goal was to restore accessibility for emergency services, including medical teams and relief convoys. There is an urgency of ensuring that our communities have access to aid and resources. Our troops are on the ground and continue to work around the clock to clear roads and assist in any way possible,” the acting commander said.
He added that the 91st IB disaster response teams cleared toppled trees and debris left by Super Typhoon Pepito day and night.
“Our units are closely coordinating with other national government agencies, local government units, and private sector responders in launching bayanihan efforts for Pepito’s victims across the province.
In times of need, the 91st IB will continue to maximize its active and reserve force and will utilize its modern competencies, equipment and response effort.
